Over due update

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 10, 2007, 2:55 PM
Alas, with the year slipping by faster than before, it was brought to attention that this poor site was neglected. The last journal entry was from NOVEMBER?! and thus this group will be monitored a bit more closely. There is another monitor, myself, korean-angel214, helping JMSnooks while he is either away from his computer or busy with work. Since I don't have homework of any sort, I can give more of my free time to help with this site.
Everything from previous entries stands in how you join this site. However, it would be great if you did your own disclaimer when wanting to join this group. Please tell us your short theology of what being a Christian is and that you believe it is God who created the world and not the nothing matter becoming something. This will help speed up your own process!
We appreciate your latest creations and comments.
In Christ,
korean-angel214

Purpose:

Welcome to ~DA-Creationists, I believe that this is one of the first (if not the first) group on DA dedicated specifically to Biblical Creation. The primary focus of this group is to strengthen the faith of believers using science, and discredit evolution, also using science. We believe that God should get the glory for his creations, and we reject the notion that the universe is self existing. We don't mind answering questions from evolutionists, but we request that before asking questions you review the FAQ's, which addresses most of the more stereotypical comments.

Disclaimer: I realize that this is a sensative issue for many people, and that some people on both sides may become...uncordial, to say the least, inculding members of this group. While I would prefer that everyone acts in a civil way, I am also aware that not everyone will. Therefore, I would like to remind everyone that the members of this group are responsible for their own actions, and ~DA-Creationists will not be held responsible for the actions of individual users operating under their own usernames.

I like how you guys continue posting here while ignoring critiques of your scientifically inaccurate FAQ.

Oh and as someone who has worked closely with individuals involved with radiometric dating I feel compelled to correct a number of factual inaccuracies in your section of Radiocarbon dating.

To start with, the principle is based upon the half life of Carbon 14 and the assmption that it decays at a constant rate. I'd agree that as a method of dating it has severe preoblmes, not in the least that it becomes highly inaccurate once one gets to ca 30-40ka. On thois timescale it is almst never used by palaeobiologiss as a means to study the evolutionary timescale. It is only really used in archaeology, which deals with much shorter periods

However, there are many other elements that provide much better and longer chronologies for dating. The steady decay of Potassium into Argon for example, can provide a relatively high resolution chronology for several millions of years.

You may interpret this as you will but I felt compelled to stand up for the professional integrity of my colleagues who have worked tirelessly, for not a great deal of money, to develop these methods.

I think the thing which I find rather worrying about this club, is the comment in your signiture

The primary focus of this group is to strengthen the faith of believers using science, and discredit evolution, also using science.

It rather implies an a priori assumption on your part and the subsequent use of sources of evidence to support this.

I'd accept that to a certain extent one cannt help but to arrive at evidence with prior assumptions. However, to do so so explicitly rather suggests that sources of evidence to the contrary will be ignored.

No problem, you deserve the praise.
I personally think it's great that you are so devoted to your religion and at the same time are kind and respectful to everyone, not just other Christians. You're a very positive role model that this site needs more of.

I agree with your statement about openly discussing Creationism and Intelligent Design. However, it is unfortunate the sort of people this community attracts are not always effective in engaging in calm, considerate arguments. Funny how the militant atheists and/or militant evolutionists somehow find their way here to exclaim 'GOD I HAET PPL WHO BELIEVE IN GOD UR SOOO DUMB'. And vice a versa, though in this community you see more hostile opponents of Creationism. Discussing and exchanging ideas on a forum like this can be a very positive thing, but, this is DA...

Nevertheless, I still find arguing ID vs. Evolution, etc., trivial. Neither side is going to change their minds, and more often than not the thread becomes a mudslinging flamewar. I'd rather respect the other person's beliefs and move on. But this is just me, after all.

And yeah, my account. Whatevs. I didn't use it for anything besides socializing - I have a lot of friends who use the site. I don't post art here, I lost faith in DA awhile ago, but I still lurk here nonetheless.

Thank so much. I only hope to mature more and more everyday. If anything, love draws people more than anything else. People can sense when you're for real. Sure, I do believe that Jesus Christ is the Way but everyone is still made in God's image they should be respected as such.

Sounds mushy but God accepted me as I am and loves me too much to leave me where I am, so I hope to do the same for others bro.

That's a pain, hope the account thing gets cleared up 0_o

As for I.D. and Creation Science, I do think the fields deserve a chance and opening a channel of dioligue is always good

You know, you're a very accepting person (judging from reading comments left on this page, I've been lurking around this community a while). I just wanted to let you know because I feel what you are doing is very important, especially on this website. You're very positive and mature, unlike a lot of users. I wish more people everywhere where more like you, no matter what they believe in, or choose not to believe in. Unlike many Christians, you don't flaunt your religion like some trendy accessory or use your beliefs to belittle other people - I see this behavior in a lot of preteens and teenagers like me, it's quite unnerving. You also embrace differences, seeing all people, Christian or not, as equals, unlike how many religious persons (and non-religious persons) choose to harbor prejudices. Groups and people who believe the answer to peace and harmony is unity through (their) beliefs should step back and reexamine their mantra; peace will come through unity, but unity will only be brought through moral and ethnical acceptance.

And just to clarify with the username, this is my friends account I'm using, not mine (mine, pink-unicorns, got banned for no reason. Thanks, admins!). I'm an atheist, but I don't let my own beliefs obscure my judgement.
    ~Gods-Creation:iconGods-Creation: Nov 7, 2007, 7:37:34 AM
Oh yeah, I have actually joined this group with my other account, ~ServantofJesus :) But since on making this account, I'd decided to use it for answering replies on Creation issues (I think you did a couple of replies once on that forum post "praise God's Creation" a while back, which ended up with over 1000 replies to it).

It was originally just for my overflow of photos I had [or the amount I first thought I would post on DA.com] from buying a digital camera, but it had slowed to a crawl simply because I couldn't find the Scriptures that went with most of the photos I took.
